Introduction to computers
A computer is an electronic device that can store and process raw data to give desired outputs. In computer, processor is called as the brain of the computer. Mac is an expensive and a powerful home desktop computer. The G3 chip is used in this iMac.

People or one who operates computer is called a user. It is said that some computer systems are complete without a person's involvement, but no computer system is fully autonomous. Computer can perform it's job without a person sitting in front of it. But people still design, build, program and repair computer systems.

The physical components that make up a computer system like keyboard, mouse, monitor, circuit board are called - Hardware

Data consists of individual facts or pieces of information that by themselves may not make much sense to person. A computer'system primary job is to process these tiny pieces of data in various ways converting them into useful information.
If we compare the book with the computer, then the words written on the pages are equivalent to the software of the computer. Without the words, the book is useless in  the same way as without software the computer will be of little use. Software is nothing but the programs that control the computer system. Software is a set of instructions that makes the computer perform tasks. In other words, software tells the computer what to do. The term program refers to any piece of software.

The information processing cycle consists of four parts:
1. Input
2. Processing
3. Output
4. Storage

There are two types of software:
(i)  SYSTEM SOFTWARE
(ii) APPLICATION SOFTWARE
  • The first type of software that mention above line is very helpful to the computer in  a way helps to perform different tasks and manage its own resources. Programs allow the hardware to run properly are known as SYSTEM SOFTWARE.
  • Operating is an example of system software.
  • The second one is Application software is about to perform tasks such as creating documents. Programs that allow the user to do specific tasks are called APPLICATION SOFTWARE.
  • Spreadsheet is an example of Applications software.
